About Us

A shop, a bench,
and two stubborn people

Techni-Build PCs is a small, independent shop in West Springfield, Massachusetts. We build custom computers and repair the ones people already own, and we do it the way we'd want it done for us.

Our story

It started with a favor

Like a lot of shops, this one began as a hobby that got out of hand. A few builds for friends turned into builds for their friends, then into weekend repairs at a kitchen table covered in anti-static bags.

The turning point wasn't a business plan, it was frustration. Too many people were being handed a bill they didn't understand, for a repair they didn't need, on a machine that had been "fixed" by swapping parts until the symptom went away. We thought that people deserved somewhere they could bring a computer and get the truth about it, even when the truth was this isn't worth fixing.

So Techni-Build started with two rules that haven't changed since: you see the parts list, and you approve the price before we start. Everything else, the burn-in testing, the cable management, the phone calls answered by the person who actually did the work, grew out of those two.

How we got here

The short version

[2021]

The first build

A gaming rig put together on a dining room table for a friend who couldn't afford what the big-box store was asking. It's reportedly still running.

[2024]

Word gets around

Builds and repairs by referral only, evenings and weekends, while working day jobs. The waiting list outgrows the free time.

[2026]

Techni-Build PCs opens

The business is established in a home in West Springfield, with a bench, diagnostic equipment, and enough parts for the common stuff.

How we work

Four things we don't bend on

You see the list

Every part, every price. If you want to source a component yourself, that's fine by us.

No surprise invoices

The quote is the price. If we find something else, we stop and call you before spending your money.

Straight answers

Including the unprofitable ones. We'd rather lose a job than sell you a repair that isn't worth it.

Local, and staying that way

We live here. Our customers are neighbors, and that's a much better incentive than any warranty policy.
